“I don’t understand though, what so special about hamburger that you had choose it as you favourite food,” Ohno blurted out all of sudden, watching how Nino admiringly watching the dishes served in front of them. “I mean, they’re just a piece of meat, in between of two buns,”
“And salad,” Nino added his statement.
“And salad,” he agreed before Nino added him again.
“And tomato. And cheese, “ Nino laughed when he saw Ohno rolled his eyes. “Oh, come on, Oh-chan. This is the best fast food ever exist in the world. I mean, can’t you see it? It is simple, with a few basic ingredient and when they were arranged together, they formed one simple tasty dish,” Nino was exaggerating as he talked about his favourite food so passionately, clicking his finger as he talked.
Ohno shrugged but said nothing in return. He couldn’t help to chuckled when he saw Nino, eyes sparkling like a little boy as he took the hamburger into his hand, wondering where the best part to take his first bite at is. And when he finally did, Ohno’s lips unconsciously formed a smile. A blissful feeling took over him as he watched his Nino with his one of the things he loved in the world.
“It’s delicious!” Nino claimed, totally enjoying the meal.
For a while, Ohno couldn’t bring himself to touch the one served in front of him. He couldn’t stop watching Nino, acting childish as he took bite after bite as if it was him and the hamburger was the center of the world. His mouth kept that smile as he was doing it.
It was until only the small part of the hamburger left on his hand, Nino attention finally went back to him.
“Why aren’t you eating yours? Nino asked, frowning.
“Because I want you to look at me, understand how it feels to see you happy with the things you love,”
“Huh? Wait. You’re not jealous over this hamburger, don’t you?” Ohno chuckled.
“It’s indescribable, Nino,” Ohno said, taking the hamburger into his hand before he continued it again. “I can’t describe it how happy I am watching you happy. Even if it wasn’t me who’s the reason to that happiness,”
Nino frowned. He watched attentively at the man in front of him as he took his bite. Ohno’s “Umai!!” exclamation after his first bite didn’t manage to make him smile though.
Slowly, he leaned back to his seat, folding his arms as he watched Ohno enjoying his meal. His lips slowly forming a smile but it weren’t as sincere as Ohno’s earlier.
Noticing this, Ohno stopped from eating.
“What?”
“It’s indescribable too, to explain how unhappy I am watching you happy without me as a reason behind it,”
Ohno sighed.
“That wasn’t what I mean though…”
“I know,” Nino cut him. “But I know perfectly what I mean, Satoshi. I want to be your happiness, at the same time, you to be mine. Even if I have hundreds of hamburger around me, it’s meaningless without you around. And it pained me to think that one day, I might not be the reason to your happiness,”
Ohno quickly shut him up by putting his fingers on his lips.
“Let me talk now, before you completely misunderstand what I mean earlier,”
Nino nodded half heartedly.
“What I mean earlier never has even a subtle meaning that I’m gonna leave you any moment soon, Ninomiya. What I mean is, as long as you’re happy, leaving me behind wasn’t a big deal for me, Kazu. What matters for me is your happiness,”
“If that so, stay,” Nino cut him again. “Of course I wanna be happy. But I want us to be happy. Share the happiness together. So stay. That’s the only thing I could ask from you,”
Ohno chuckled a little hearing Nino.
Slowly, he brought his hand to the man’s face, cup it as he caressed Nino’s cheek lightly. He leaned in, before his lips landed on Nino’s lips. It lasted for a few seconds before he broke the kiss, completely standing in an awkward position; with Nino across the table and their forehead closed to each other.
“If you have to choose, between me and hamburger, which one will you choose?”
Nino clicked his tongue.
“You can’t make me choose between you and the hamburger, Oh-chan. the answer is obvious…”
Ohno was hoping for something romantic as an answer, but for god sake, it’s Nino he’s dealing with. The man’s answer was meaningless without a tease.
“… of course I’m gonna choose the hamburger,” and his heart drop hearing the answer.
He let go of the man, taking back his seat as he ate the one that he left earlier.
Nino chuckled watching the change of expression on the man’s face. He moved to have a seat next to Ohno, before took Ohno’s arm around his as he leaned his head onto Ohno’s shoulder.
“Jokes Oh-chan. You don’t make me choose between the hamburger and you. Because the answer will always be you. Only you,”
“Really?” Ohno asked with his mouth full. Nino chuckled, smacking Ohno’s head lightly.
“I love you,” was what Nino replied as an answer. Judging from that smug on Ohno’s face, Nino sure enough that he won’t have to convince the man anymore.
But Ohno has something else in his mind.
“Nino, would you like to have a taste of my hamburger?” he asked, pointing his finger on his lips.
Of course, Nino didn’t need to be told twice.
