Chapter 3
“Actually…”Ohno paused, biting his lower lips. “Kaachan found out about me and you,”
Nino’s mouth hung open.
“What?”
“That wasn’t the worst part, yet,”Ohno sighed. “She didn’t like the idea of us, Kazu,”
“So you decided that it’s better for us to stay away from each other?” he asked, his eyes narrowed as he continued his words. “Ï don’t get it,”
Ohno lost his words there. In whatever he was going to say next, he couldn’t see any possibilities that Nino gonna accept it. At least, not easily. Especially when whatever he’s going to say next, just going to prove how coward he was in their relationship.
“Will you let me explain, without you interrupting my explanation?” Ohno tried his luck. However, the response he received told him that it would never be easy.
Folding his arms across his chest, Nino replied. “It depends. I will refuse to listen if the idea is ridiculous,”
This is tough, Ohno thought in his head. He saw how dissatisfied Nino was, waiting for him to begin. Taking one deep sigh he started.
“I was assigned into an Omiai,”
That one line slurred passed Ohno’s lips, Nino could feel his body was shaking. It felt like his energy was draining at the same time, he knew the only thing that kept him standing, was his ego.
Ohno loves his mother, everyone knew that. He didn’t need to be told twice about it, he didn’t need Ohno to tell him about it because, damn it, he knew the man since 15 years ago. Being set into an omiai, Nino knew well that Ohno would never say no.
He couldn’t blame the man, but at the same time, it hurt. A lot. Thinking how the relation they had between them could be toss aside just because of one reason. And the fact that…
“You never fight for us,” Nino said, frustration was obvious in his voice.
“Nino. I-“
Ohno lost his words there.
Ohno hated it. For years, they’ve been together and making Nino sad was the last thing he wanted to do. He knew Nino. He knew how the man made everything hard for himself, telling and convincing himself that love that last forever never exist in this world.
And now, despite how he had promised himself to never hurt the man he loved most, he had.
“Kaachan told me that too,” the words slurred pass his lips after a long sigh.
Nino looked at him, frowning.
“I was being a coward. I should have fight for you. But then, I couldn’t say no to her,”
Ohno paused, biting his lips as he eyed for the man reaction.
“I was seriously considering on agreeing with the whole omiai things. I went to meet the girl, and I have to say she’s perfect. But then, the feeling was not there. No matter how much I tried, the feeling I have for you, I can’t create one for her,”
Nino was sincerely listening to his explanation, though if Ohno should say, he wasn’t really sure if the man was. However, none of his words was interrupted yet, that he decided it’s best to continue, before Nino changed his mind later.
“I told kaachan about it somehow. I was such an ungrateful child for making her hurt. Eventhough she was smiling, I know she was disappointed with me. But then, she told me that if that can make me happy, I should fight for us,”
“So she’s fine with us?”
“I can’t say that. But, kazu-“ Ohno’s hand finding his, entwining their fingers with hope and determination conquer his mind as he continued. “we could find a way to make it works for us. We can find a way to make her see how we were meant for each other-“
“Under this circumstances, Ohno-san, I don’t see any possible way that things could work for us,” Nino cut him.
“Kazu-“
“She couldn’t accept us. You never fight for us, instead you gave a thought on getting married with a girl she assign you with. That three reason was enough for me to tell that this relation couldn’t go anywhere far. And the fact that you put everything on me, wanting me to be the one who make it works between us, seriously Ohno-san. I had it enough,”
“Kazu, please-“
“all of this time, it was me who’s been tolerating. I know I was being hard on you. My temper, my sarcasm, my harsh words. But then I was tolerating with you too. A relationship between two men is tough Ohno-san. And it was even harder when it was only one person trying to make it works. Seriously, we’re over!”
He was frustrated. Only god could tell how worthless he felt by now.
But then, he should have guess. It was against the whole nature when two men together. It was hard for them when the society never approved of the idea of two men being in a romantic relationship together. Even harsh, Ohno’s mom was one of the society.
Before he could went into their set up tent, Ohno grabbed his hand, stopping him.
“listen to me, Kazu,”
“no!” he snapped, trying to released his hand from the man’s grip. “This whole trip to this stupid deserted island shouldn’t happened in the first place, Ohno-san. I wanna go back!”
“No, Kazu. Wait. Hear me up,”
“No,” he glared at the man in response. “Either we’re going back to Tokyo today, or the next time you sleep, you’ll end up dead in my hand,”
“I’d rather hold that risk dying in your hand than going back to Tokyo without having the chance to start anew,”
Nino stopped struggling before he stared at Ohno with dissatisfaction showed in his eyes.
“Remember last time when I said it in mago-mago arashi? It was scripted, yes. But I am a man with word, Kazu. When I said, I made sure I’ll do it. This is the only way I can think to show you that everything between us can work. To the hell everything or everyone who went against us. But we can make this work. I can. So could you please, please, I beg you, give me a chance so that I can show you?”
He paused, closing their distance as he put his hand on the man’s shoulder.
“I love you. I really do. I am such a coward. An idiot-“
“You are,” Nino cut him. “Planning this stupid trip shows how stupid you are,”
Ohno chuckled.
“I know. But I think, I’ve ruined your trust before. Then I decided. If you refuse to make everything work between us again, I’ll do it,”
Nino smirked hearing Ohno. He raised his eyebrows, feeling amused as he replied.
“It’s not like I’m begging you either,” he said, pushing Ohno away from him. “You’ve lost my trust, Ohno-san. If you want it back, try harder. And make sure to make it right,”
He chuckled once, mocking the man as he made his way into the tent.
“Good luck. That’s all I can say,” Nino said, leaving Ohno alone outside the tent, wondering how he should make it work between them again.
