Disclaimer: nope. I don't own Ohno or Nino or Jun or Arashi. they belongs to themselves. No profit taken from this, except for some stress reliever.

CHAPTER 10

Ohno didn’t feel like waking up. A week had passed and waking up without the presence of someone next to him felt so harsh. Miyuki’s gone and so was Nino. All he had now was nothing but memories, beautiful memories that only brought him pain each time he remembered.

As his conscious wake, he felt warmth under his embrace. There’s a sweet fresh smell that filled his nostrils, as he realized what was causing that smell, his body tense. Yet, he didn’t let go.

Slowly he opened his eyes and Nino’s hair greeted him.

Nino.

Shit. He cursed under his breath. He wanted to move away to release the man from his embrace. But his feeling of wanting someone to stay by his side prevented him from doing so.

Nino’s going to kill me if he wakes up like this, he told himself. Then he noticed the mark on Nino’s shoulder. As he roamed his eyes all over Nino, he found two other marks on the man’s back. He, once again, cursed himself.

Leaving him now will only make things worse, he said inside his head.

However, Nino was quite calm when he started speaking.

“I’m going to die if you keep on hugging me so tight, Ohno-san. In fact, I’m already having a hard time breathing,” Nino suddenly spoke and almost instantly, Ohno let go.

Nino didn’t immediately get up. Instead, he slowly turned to face Ohno—whose face was tainted with guilt all over.

“Good morning, Ohno-san,” he greeted.

Ohno snickered, feeling a bit awkward when he saw another mark on Nino’s neck. He probably went rough last night, but why wasn’t Nino yelling at him? Why was he taking his time to greet him with his face calm as if nothing happened between them?

“We fucked last night, if that’s what you’re thinking about. But I took it as a welcoming gift and I’m well aware that you’re still longing for your wife presence,” Nino said still acting calm.

“Nino, I’m-“

“I forgive you. But when I said I forgive you, that wasn’t a ticket for you, for us, to repeat it again. In fact, it shouldn’t happen anymore,”

Silence. He saw Nino sighed before he shifted his position to sit. Ohno mirrored the action right after.

“I’m sorry.” Ohno began. “I was drunk last night. I must have lost control” he continued as he watched Nino collecting his clothes on the floor.

“I’m not going to deny it. Ugh, you even left marks,” Nino commented when he saw the mark on his neck through the mirror. “Seriously, Ohno-san. Your wife just died a week ago and now you’re fucking another man on your bed. The bed you’ve been sharing with her. How ridiculous are you going to be? How ridiculous are you going to make of me?”

“I’m-” he stopped, lost his words. Nino must’ve had a disgusted look on his face now, he thought. His apologize won’t do much, he knew. In addition, their past won’t make things easier.

For a moment, he kept observing Nino who has now started tidying the room. The man didn’t even glanced at him, and that makes him wonder.

“Are you mad?” he asked, causing Nino to stop. Ohno continued when Nino looked at him with an expression that he can’t even explain. “About what happened-“

“To be honest Ohno-san, I want to forget it as soon as possible.” Nino said, still acting calm. “So, I beg you not to talk about this anymore. And please bear in mind that this thing shouldn’t happen again in the future. I came here as your friend, not your sex slave,”

Nino’s words seem to slap him on the face. For a while, it felt like a sharp pain was stabbing his heart again and again only to realize that it was caused by Nino’s words. But Nino had a point, despite being his drunk-self last night when he called him, he did realized how he was asking the man to stay.  But then it happened, they had sex even though he was not sure if Nino was fine about the fact that they did.

Of course Nino’s not, he thought, virtually face palming himself.

“I’ll stay,” Nino said, taking a seat on the chair a meter away from the bed where Ohno was sitting. “But I have a few conditions.”

Ohno raised his eyebrow.

“First, as what I’ve told you, whatever happened yesterday, should never happen again in the future.”

Ohno shook his head almost instantly, making Nino roll his eye.

“Second, I need a room for myself and it’s completely restricted to you especially at night or anytime you felt horny. No, scratch that. You’re completely restricted to enter no matter what time it is.”

Ohno chuckled once but quickly turned serious when he saw the glare Nino gave him.

“And lastly, you should listen carefully Ohno-san.” Nino made sure that Ohno attention was totally paying attention when he finally said his final condition.

“You can’t fall in love with me.”

“You can’t fall in love with me.”

Ohno remembered hearing Nino said that to him. He couldn’t help but notice the cold tone in Nino’s voice when he said those words.

Why? The question has been revolving inside his head ever since Nino said it the first time. Why can’t I fall in love with him? Why did Nino put such a serious face while saying it with a stern and cold tone as if he wanted to break him by just saying those words? He wanted to ask Nino about it, but no matter how much he wanted to, he couldn’t bring himself to do so.

Was it because Nino already have someone in his heart? Ohno wanted to be selfish, he wanted a “no” as the answer to the question. After all, a month’s worth of spending time together sort of gave him a hint that it was him who still hold the key to Nino’s locked heart.

And when his curiosity reached its limit, on the third day Nino stayed with him, he asked.

“Why can’t I love you?” He blurted out the question as he watched Nino prepare their breakfast. “Why can’t I fall in love with you?”

Nino raised a questioning look.

“Because I don’t want you to,” Nino answered it simple, he didn’t even bother to take a look at Ohno.
“Do you have someone else--“
“Ohno-san,” Nino cut him. “Should I remind you again that I didn’t do this so that I can get something from you in return? You asked me to stay as your friend, and that’s what I’m doing.”

“What about your promise?” Ohno insisted, he continued when he saw a confused look on Nino’s face. “You promised Miyuki--“

“I never promised her anything, Ohno-san,” Nino said, stern. “Even at her last breath, she didn’t force me. She respected my wish, and I believe you should too,”

Ohno fell silent. Two pieces of chicken sandwich in front of him but all of sudden, he didn’t feel hungry anymore.

He observed Nino—who was silently munching his sandwich and was ignoring the look Ohno was giving to him.

He knew he don’t deserve Nino’s love and he has no intention to force the man to love him. But the way Nino was saying it, Ohno could feel there’s something much more behind Nino’s words. Something similar to what Nino told Miyuki for the last time.

“What if I make you fall in love with me?” Ohno asked. Nino glared at him.

“I will make it stop before it even starts”

“What if you failed?” This time, a smile crooked on his lips.

“Did Miichan asked you to do such a thing? If she did, I’m sorry, but seriously, she’s an idiot. Cut out the crap before I insult her even more,”

Silence.

“Don’t you want to feel loved, Nino?”

Nino chuckled mockingly.

“If only you didn’t make that call that night, Ohno-san, perhaps, I’ll be currently cuddling with Jun,” Nino said.

There, a pang of jealousy hit his face. Was Jun the reason Nino didn’t want Ohno to fall in love with him? Ohno wondered.

He felt like his stomach churn at what Nino had said earlier. The image of Nino, happily cuddling with Jun. No, he didn’t like the idea at all. But who was he to feel jealous over something that could bring happiness to Nino? He’s just a jerk who ruined all the chances he had before. But still...

Slowly, he took a bite on the sandwich Nino prepared earlier. His mind was wandering somewhere far when Nino said something that caused him to frown.

“You can fall in love with me, Ohno-san,” Nino paused, taking a sip of coffee from his glass before he took a glance at the man. Quickly, he averted his gaze when their eyes met before he continued.

“You’re going to regret it.”
