Chapter 1

OHNO POV

Everyone was hurrying back home, except him. I look at him who keeps playing his DS. Not even a word was out from his mouth. I guess, he must be really focused on his game after all. I keep staring before Sho-kun manager address him to get ready to go home.

“Otsukare,” Sho-kun said to both of us who left in the dressing room. Without looking back, he just replies the same word to him. His eyes were still on the DS screen. Now it just left us in the room. Since the end of the recording for Arashi ni Shiyagare and Miyane-ya just now he didn’t talk to me after all. Did I really sound harsh just now? I keep forcing myself to begin a conversation with him, but I just don’t have any idea to begin with. It always him who begin the conversation between us.

“Don’t you have work tomorrow?” finally I utter a question to him. He looks at me once before return back his attention to whatever he was playing.

“I do, I’m waiting for manager-san to take me home,” he answered.

I was about to ask him another question when his manager comes in. he saved his game before keeping it in his bag. He picked up his stuff before heading to the door without looking at me. Not even the “thanks for the hard work” greeting like always. The next thing I heard is the sound of the door shut behind me.

It’s not me don’t want to go out with him. He always asked for it whenever he got chance, but still, I keep giving him the same answer. He might think me a bias. I do go out with the others but not even once with him alone.

Suddenly, I heard the sound of the door opened and he was there.

“I forgot to say something, otsukare. See you tomorrow, if we got chance,” he said, smiling before closing the door.

He didn’t mad, I’m glad.

The next few days, we didn’t really meet each other. He is busy with his work I guess. Only on the day we have the VS Arashi shooting, I meet him. As usual, that morning he keeps playing his DS while aware of the jokes done by Aiba-chan. Sometimes he laughs along.

Just before the shooting begins, Aiba-chan asks him something.

“Ne, Nino-chan. Wanna hang out tonight? Sho-chan was just asking me just now. Riida and Jun-kun will be there too,” he said with his cheerful mood as always. Nino looks at him before turn his looks to Sho-kun.

“Eh, is it fine for me to go along? Sho-kun?”

“Sure, of course. What’s with that question by the way?” Sho asked him. It’s sure weird for anyone to hear him, our Nino to ask that kind of question after all. All of this time, he never really ask too much when it comes to our personal activities.

“Maa… who knows. You might want a time with Aiba-chan alone. I guess. Well then, sure. I’ll join you guys tonight,” he now walks out towards the studio before he said something again.

“I guess tonight….. I’ll treat you guys,” he said before went straight to the studio.

All of us were now looking at each other. Even Jun gives me a weird look.

“Do you guys think, he affected by what I said last time? About me, not going out with him alone?” no one gives me an answer to the question I asked just now. It’s freaking annoying the atmosphere becomes that strained after all. Thanks to Jun as he asked us to get ready for the shooting.

Just before the camera starts to roll, I saw him looks at me.

“Nani?”

“Nothing, just don’t forget to talk,” he said with a smirk on his face like he always did. I look at him. Why can’t you say what you want to say? If you hurt by what I said last time, say it to me now. You make me wonder so much.

Without I’m realizing it, it has been three month since the event occurred. And since then, not even once he asked me for dinner together even we did talk when we got chances. The last time I had it with him is together with the other member. And yes, he paid for it. Even Sho-kun insist he wants too, but Nino just said to let him so as he really into his mood to treat us for once in his life.

His words, somehow it piercing me. Somehow he seems to be so sarcastic.

“Dreaming again? What time did you wake up this morning? And when did you sleep last night?” those friendly, caring tone that I miss. I turn my head towards that voice. Nino stands behind me with that grinning looks. Somehow he looks a little bit skinny nowadays. I wonder why.

“Ah, I’m talking to the wall I guess. How is your sleep yesterday, mister-wall?” He says while making an action of hugging the wall. I laugh. His senses of humor never change since the first time I met him.

“My sleep is fine, Nino, if you’re so desperate for an answer from me,”

“Oh, good. I hope you’re not going to be sleepy today. Somehow, you never get enough of sleep,” he said while pulling out his DS.

I really hate that thing. Seriously. I know once his eyes on that thing, our conversation ends just like that. I walk to him before taking my place next to him.

“Ne, Nino,” I start our conversation again and without taking his eyes from the screen

“Hmm?”

“We need to talk,” I said.

He looks at me. This time I win. He pause his game and turns his attention to me.

“nani?” he ask.

“Are you affected by my words last time?” I don’t know how to ask him in proper way. But I guess that’s the good way to ask so. He looks at me with a curious look on his face.

“Eh, what did you said?”

“About me not wanting to go out for drink with you,” he let out a sigh from his mouth. He looks at me. Maybe finding a right words to begin with.

“You may yell at me you know, I won’t mind,” I said just before he reply.

“It’s not that, Riida. I’m not affected by that. I’m just….” He said with a paused. I look at him, patiently waiting for his answer.

“Just?”

“Wonder,” he finished his sentences.

“I wonder why you won’t go out with me. Is it because you’re afraid about what people said? You know, they might think we really went out as a couple. Or is it because you don’t want to spend your money? Or is it because you have an instinct saying that if we go out that day, something bad will happened? You know, you always say that “today is not good”, so I wonder if that really that case,”

 I don’t know what to say about his explanation. I don’t know if he really mean it or he just said that because he just don’t want to hurt me. He is now staring at me. Maybe, he is waiting for an answer. An answer that I can’t give. I just don’t know what I should give him as an answer. He then sighs.

 “it’s ok. You don’t have to answer it. I guess, she’s right,” he said turning his attention back to his DS.

“She?” I asked. I’m so sure that I’m not mistakenly heard those word. He looks back at me.

“Ahh, gomen. Anou… she said, you have right to reject by the way. So, she ask me to wait for you to ask by yourself,” he blurts those words out. It’s not that thing I wanna heard Nino. I want to know who that girl is. I was about to ask before the other member went into our rest room.

“Ne, Riida. I might be so stubborn, but wanna hang out tonight? Just the two of us,” he asks. The next word I utter, I know I hurt him again.

“No,” it just a simple word but he looks taken aback by what I said. I saw Jun gives me a bitter expression. By that time, I’m already annoyed.

“What? I have rights to reject it,” I said before stormed out of the room. Without me realizing it, I hurt him once again.
