“Focus, Masaki,” his father taps his shoulders causing him to startle a bit before once again focus to his cooking.
It has been a year since he left Tokyo, living in Chiba. He completely ‘went missing’ from everyone he knows in Tokyo, trying to focus and adjusting his new life as a non idol.
The issues went silent easily than he thought. No one in his house ever spoke about it, so does the neighbourhood. It stops and it feels like nothing happens. Maybe one of the reasons he was feeling that way because he refuses to read anymore tabloid or even newspaper.
Sometimes he wonder, is he really a bad friend when he decided to stop knowing or care anything related to Arashi. but every single times he thought about them, it brings pains to his heart. he was once with them, growing up with them, being known as one name. but all those things stops after what he has done.
“Masaki, it’s over cook,” his father close the stove he uses, pushes him aside before took away the over cooked food.
“sorry,” he says, causing his father to shake his head.
“I’m not scolding you here, son. But trust me. that sorry word won’t work if the place burn. And it will never ever work when one live lost when that happens.”
Aiba nod once before lowers his head, looking at the floor as if something interesting there. He hears his father sigh once causing him to lift up his head to have a proper look at his father.
“Take a rest for today. I know there’s something else in your mind. I think, he’ll help you make a better decision,”
“I told you, no reporter. I don’t want to be interviewed,” he replies, annoyed.
“Sooner or later, they will know, and you have nowhere to hide,” his father says before continues cooking again. “And no. not reporter. Personal room. Go or you’ll regret,”
Why should I regret? He asks himself the question again and again. Reluctantly, he opens his apron and the chef hat before putting them inside their locker.
No one seems to recognize him as he walks along the path towards the personal room.
so the fans has forget about me huh? He smirks, thinking that.
He knocks the door of the room before he opens it to reveal all of his ex bandmates sitting there. The room was silent as dead. He keep standing at the door before Nino finally speaks something logic.
“if you don’t close the door, it’ll brings trouble to us and to you. come in,” Aiba rolls his eyes before closing the door behind him, taking a seat next to Jun, not bother to start a conversation between them. While half of him annoyed by Nino’s brat character, he misses him. so much indeed.
He could feel that Sho is looking at him. if it is not directly, maybe a subtle glance. But Aiba refuses to look towards the newscaster directions. 1 year has passed and he stills feels bitter about it.
“we miss you,” Jun finally breaks the silent they created once the food has finished.
“Baka,” Aiba chuckles a little causing the other to laugh too. But it fades after a while, and Aiba speaks again. “I miss you guys too,”
“we keep coming here you know. And everytime we’re here, your parent told us you’re not here,” Jun tells him a fact which he already know.
“They lied. I was here. Every single time you’re here, hiding in my room,”
The five of them fell silent.
“look, Aiba-chan…” it send shivers to his body when he heard the man starts to speak. No, he never get over it. he still has some feeling for the man. “I’m sorry for what…”
“it’s a past. Let’s not talk about it?” he cuts him without looking at the man. And then he heard the man sigh.
“how’s Arashi?” he asks causing Nino to snort annoyingly.
“don’t you read any news?” Aiba shakes his head. “we went hiatus,”
“What?” he asks, his eyes widen in disbelieved.
“Arashi works as five. It will never work as four,”
“but I… I…”
“no.. you don’t quit,” Jun smirks looking at him. “we’re Arashi. we’ll make through it no matter how tough the scandal is. We come here to tell you that, but since that you went missing everytime we’re here…”
“we want to tell you by ourselves. No matter what… are you ok, Aiba-chan,”
Aiba fell silent. And if people asks him if he ever heard Ohno’s voice, no he didn’t.
This is not what in his thought. And because it’s not, he was making another big decision in his life. something that he never imagine he will ever do while he was still an idol.
“you’ll come back to us right? Now that you heard this?” Jun asks. Aiba could hear doubt in his tone. Maybe he notices how Aiba reaction has change.
Biting his lower lip, slowly, Aiba shakes his head.
“I’m getting married,”
