Genre: Friendship, Angst, college-life
Rating: PG-13
Summary: a story revolves around the friendship of the two boys, friendship begins from an unexpected meeting, but none of them knows of how it’ll end.
Disclaimer: the word ‘fiction’ should explain everything. I own the plot, not the real character/human.
Note: when I was writing this, I swear I have this 2 people in my head.riida91 and diahlee486. I don’t know why, but you both just happened to be in my head. I’m not sure if 1 of them will read this fic, but I hope whoever who read this will enjoy. I’m still debating on how I should do the ending. Though, if people read my prev fic, I rarely make a happy ending. But, maybe I’ll stick to the first plan, but will make an alternate ending to this. In addition, this fic is for my new friend who already declare to stalk me in twitter nadzsanz XD yoroshiku~
PROLOGUE
Aiba Masaki was 7 years old when he met 6 year old Ninomiya Kazunari. Their meeting was coincidental enough when both of them were lost from their parent's grip in a convenience store and went to the customer service counter to wait for their parents to get them again.
Nino thought that Aiba was weird. He’s tall, bigger than him. Not to mention older than him. But yet, he feels like he is not. While Nino keeps calm playing his game, waiting for his mum, Aiba, on the other hand cries, weeping in a corner of the counter.
He is annoyed. But he can’t help but feel pity for the older boy. Hence he shut his game, pushing them into his bag before went to the older boy. He tried to choose a proper word to begin with. But everything sounds so wrong when he starts to speak.
“You know…” He bit his lip when he sees the older man turn to look at him as he spoke. Those teary eyes, it looks cute on the boy. Makes him feel like hugging him, comforting him by telling him everything is gonna be fine.
“You know…” he started again. “I don’t really make friends with anyone. I’m much more attracted to games. And I hate people who cry because of silly things especially when they lost their mum in a combini.”
The older boy looks startled by his words, making him to feel even worse. He knew it. He's just so not good at making new friends. But still...
“I’m Ninomiya. My classmates in the kindergarten call me Nino. You can call me that too.” He held out his hand. The boy looks hesitant at first, but after a while they had their first handshake.
“Aiba Masaki. You can call me Aiba. I miss my mum…” The boy wipes his tears. “Can you help me find her?”
“She will come here. There’s nothing to worry about."
“But... But… what if she doesn’t? What if we stay here and then someone comes and kidnaps us?”
For a moment, Nino was annoyed. How stupid can this boy be? He asked himself.
“Look,” he held out his handkerchief to the older boy, “I get lost here quite a lot. And everytime it happened, I go back home. And yes, with my mum. They already make an announcement. I’m sure our parents will come here. Sooner or later. But for now, please wipe your tears, your snot and what so ever things on your face so that you’ll appear nice and clean when your mum comes to take you later.”
Aiba did what he was asked. It was a few minutes later Nino’s mum came, scolding the younger child for wandering. And then Aiba’s mum comes to take her child, praising him for being a brave boy, and not crying, causing Nino to make a face while Aiba grinned with praise.
“I made a new friend too…” Aiba said, causing Nino to feel like kicking the boy so hard, as he was smug for the lies. But at least, Aiba told some truth. About making a new friend.
It happened that after the incident, their parents become friend too. When Aiba’s mum comes to Nino’s house, Aiba will tag along.
The two children talked about various things. Mostly about games that Nino has, and about the dog that Aiba had, has or wanted to have. And their friendship grew to the point when they shared secrets a lot. They are inseparable.
They become best friend that decided everything had to be done together. And then there’s a vow.
“Ne, Nino-chan!”
“Stop adding –chan to my name. Nino is enough.”He heard Aiba giggle. “What?”
“Let’s stay friend forever Ne. Let’s be each other bestfriend who will stand up for each other when one of us having trouble. Let’s protect each other?”
Nino snorted.
“Wouldn’t that be troublesome? Stop making that duck face,” he snapped, pinching the pouted mouth Aiba made. He laughed when Aiba whined, hurt by his doing.
Nino didn’t reply straight away. After packing their stuff, they leave the playground, heading home. It was at the junction; Aiba will turn left, and Nino will turn right. Nino replied to his bestfriend's proposal from earlier.
“You’ll be a troublesome for me, and I’m sure I’ll be yours too. It might take until the end of our life… but let’s protect each other. Ne?”
He made sure that Aiba smiles and nods of understanding to his words, before turning around, heading home. He heard Aiba humming their favorite anime song. Somehow he hummed it too.
It’s a promise between best friends. That they will be there for each other until the end of their lives. They’re just 8 and 9 years old when they make the promise.
But no one knows about the future. So do them

extra note: i finished writing up till chapter 5, and currently writing 6. maybe i'll finish writing 7 and 8 by this weekend before i send it to my beta. hence, it is safe to say that i'm gonna update this every Friday. yoroshiku~~
